"José Palomares"
SCHOOL STORY
Dear friends, for our children, receiving in their hands your Ambassador Monarchs, opens to them the idea of how education and living is for their friends in the United States and Canada, how you all fight and share knowledge on the conservation of habitat for plants and animals, and in this special case, for the conservation of the habitat for Monarch Butterflies. Many, many things our children enjoy very much, when looking at the decoration of your Ambassador Monarchs through drawings, stamps, images, expressions and post cards, like, how your schools are, your classrooms, the subjects you attend, the sports you are fond of, your school facilities… Expressions like: “wow!, they attend music lessons!”, “oh, they practice Foot-Ball Soccer”, “they practice American Foot-Ball”, they play Base-Bal!”, — our children exclaim—, “they have a shore!, so that means they see fish, and boats every-day! their climate seems so warm!”, or: “they live in the mountains like us!, and, oh, heavens, they have got bear in their forest!, but they are all black and brown bear!, why not white bear?, why don’t we have bear with us here? we also have a rally dense and nice forest, how is that?” , etcetera. In total, it calls their attention very much how you are surrounded by nature. “Here!, they are doing bee keeping at their school”, “oh, they are raising chicken and rabbits” —when your images show you have a small farm at school—, or similar exclamations of enjoyment when you show a vegetable nursery at school too: “they grow their own carrots, spinachs, squashes!, but the best comes when they discover Monarchs’ habitat: “look, they have a big garden and raise asclepias and here Monarchs lay their eggs!, look how tiny an egg looks like!, just like our books show it!”; “there tiny baby caterpillar!, oh, my goodness, but here a huge adult caterpillar!”, “and there the crisalys!, woooow!; “which is its head and which is its rear?, how can we identify that if both rear and front look exactly the same?”, “changing their skin like snakes do???”, “here one eclosing, oohohhh!!!”. It is through your fotos with Monarchs’ images that they see how incredibly active you are and what a huge community in the north are working to increase Monarchs’ population!; that they get to see how a Monarch is born, besides our Symbolic Migration visits through the information delivered to them by the program, and additional to it, the wonderful donation of books by “Monarchs Across Georgia”, with which, for instance, the books of writer Ba Rea donated to practically all schools today, have been so wonderfully illustrating on the whole life-cycle of Monarchs to their eyes… all this dear friends, encourages, awakens a much stronger feeling of care for nature and identity to their homeland and green surrounding, and the treasure we have in our hands. This is how, dear friends we close our day today in our visit to Elementary “José Palomares Quiroz, in these magical view to our whole region of the hillsides to Sanctuary Sierra Chincua; Come and visit us!. “teacher Estelita, you who speak English, tell them we loved to receive our Ambassadors!, we received so many from Canada, that is even further away, it is incredible!, tell them many thanks for showing us so much of their countries!. We will do even much more for our forests and natural surrounding!, amamos nuestro monte y nuestro rancho y lo cuidaremos siempre!!!”.
