“Yes!, there is “internet” in the forest!. Trees need mushrooms to grow fast and healthy and they communicate to each other, as well as, other plants and animals!”
“Our forests are unique in the world because of a very special tree we have here, the Oyamel fir!”
(Estela had children to try to recognize some characteristics of the Oyamel forests outside.)
“Our large Oyamel-covered mountains protect us from wind, rain, and the intense heat of the sun. The more trees that our mountains have, the more food, water, animals, and better climate conditions we will have.”
“And, of course, what makes these forests so unique is that they have hosted monarch butterflies in the winter for many hundreds of years now!”
“We have the largest Oyamel fir forests in the world. They are the favorite trees of the monarchs while they spend a mild winter with us. This is why so many people from far away countries come to see them. There are no other countries in the world that have this incredible forest habitat but us!”
…Estela explained to children.
“Thank you for coming to visit us, not minding we are located so far away!”
“We appreciate that the Symbolic Migration Program cares about children from these faraway communities. To receive the books on “The importance of Trees” and other stories enriching our traditions and culture is invaluable.”
“Moms who are very involved in their children’s education at this community will be so happy to know you were able to deliver the beautiful Ambassador Monarchs to their children and the donation of books for the school!”
“Moms and Dads in this faraway community actively participate in their child’s education. They built their own school. Moms cook lunch for teachers every single day to show their support. They want us to be happy teaching here. Having at least one good meal a day, we feel well supported by the community.“
“We are so well respected and assisted by the whole community… It is such a noble task to be a country teacher.”
…Teacher Doris expressed to the program in order to share her experience with teachers in both Canada and the United States.
The location of the Kindergarten facilities is so inaccessible, being built on steep land into homes and bushes, that there has been no vantage point from which a photo can be taken from a distance.
