See the panoramic photo of the little village where the four schools - Kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high - surround the church in this beautiful community in the midst of such pristine natural forests.
The Symbolic Migration continues its visits at this fascinating forest extension at the back of the “Sierra Chincua” colony, in “San Jerónimo Pilitas” community.
“Our Oyamel forests are unique, not only because of the phenomenon of the monarch butterflies coming to overwinter here every year.”
“ We also hosted an extraordinary species that we must take care to protect. Here are the breeding areas of our wild endemic “Ajolotes.” Several universities are researching these exceptional amphibians….”
“Did you know that the “Ajolotes” are the only animal species that can re-generate body organs or extremities by themselves? That “Ajolotes” can only exist where the water is really pure and clean?”
“But, now, what other animal species are a sign that our forests are healthy and dense enough?
…Estela asked the children.
“Toads, hawks, opossums, birds, road-runners, wild cats, owls, deer, rabbits, bees, bats, fireflies, dragonflies, moths…!”
“What about mushrooms and plants?”
“Azules! Tecomates! Tejamanileros! Gachupines! All our medicinal remedies!”
“What about the many other benefits of trees in our forests?
“They are like a blanket keeping us warm! They are like the “big wall” of China protecting us! They regulate the climate! They call the rain!”
Teachers and leaders in the north…Just as you tell our students about life where you live through the varied and beautiful decorations you put into your Ambassadors, our children know you will read these posts and will learn about their life and their natural surroundings.
At receiving their book donation, the principal (in charge of three of the six grades at the school) expressed her gratitude, accompanied by her colleague:
“What an honor to have you visit us for several years now. Your lessons on conservation awaken in our children a real feeling and interest in caring about the conservation of our own natural surroundings. Your books are so wonderful and beautiful. They are really excellent material on which we can base our lessons and activities. Thank you again for your visit and we shall be looking forward to your visit next year!”
