For students living and attending schools near the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, receiving each of your Ambassador butterflies brings a sensation of closeness to you, their counterparts in the North, who care for monarch butterflies’ habitat during their breeding phases.

The majority of Ambassadors come from the United States; fewer from Canada. They are all having such rich cultural content! We would so love to see similar numbers of Ambassadors from both nations!

“Wow, look, they breed monarchs in cages inside their classrooms! There are caterpillars! Look at the chrysalis! A monarch is hatching! “

…they point to the photos in your Ambassadors.

“Why can we not see anything of that here?”

“They cannot see large clusters of monarchs in their forests!”

…Estela explains. The plant monarchs eat as caterpillars, -algodoncillo- is scarce in México, among several other reasons, and that monarchs cluster only here because they come to hibernate.

Additionally, the way you illustrate your Ambassadors lets our students see how life is in other parts of the world with different climates, flora, and fauna.

“Look, they have a pet at their school as we have a pet at home! They practice football in the summer, but different sports on the ice in the winter! They mostly take a bus to school! We only walk to our schools!”

They love to see the many nationalities there can be in one single classroom or group in the United States and Canada.

“Do they speak different languages too? They should also have beautiful stories from their grandparents!”

Through our blog, we hope we can convey how school and town life is for our students.
