SCHOOL VISIT

November 20th., 2018.- This school is located at a community forming the back-belt forest to Sanctuary Sierra Chincua, called “La Rosa de Palo Amarillo”. Grades 3rd. to 6th. attending the presentation on Pollinators, were more than happy to welcomethe symbolic migration!. Ambassador Monarchs 140-186 were distributed here. Since this children have basic knowledge on the pollination topic, teachers allowed that Estela took students outside to their green yard to recognize different pollinators and kinds of a few wild flowers around where they could clearly observe pollination!!!. To our surprise, the population of bees was outstanding in the yard and we could even observe a bee-hive at an outside corner fo a classroom!.

Once in the classroom, children were fascinated to hear about the great importance of pollinators!. “Estelita, we were in doubt that Monarchs were pollinators, now we know it!. On the other side, we would have never imagined that bats loved to nectar in cactus, like the Magueyes from which we drink delicious pulque and eat their flowers in the delcious way our moms cook them and Nopales we have and love so much to eat too!…and to hear that bats are active at night”, —Most of them assured with huge surprise in their faces, never having heard of this—.
