SCHOOL VISIT.-

Halfway on the way to “El Rosario” Sanctuary, —the one where the largest colony is overwintering—, there is a tiny kindergarten by a stream coming down from the middle of the mountains where Monarchs are right now overwintering, and along which, during the day, they drink water and glide down to warm up themselves when the sun is bright shining.as in these unusually sunny and bright last days of January. 4 little children from the few different families living in this surrounding area to Angangueo, are attending this small kindergarten which tourists can see on their way up or down to a visit to the Sanctuary as most schools can be seen.. Children attend kindergarten from 9-12; they have breakfast at home and carry luch to have at school, before they are picked up by their parents. They attend kindergarten from 3 to 6 years old, and it is totally for free from the State. Kindergarten and elementary school levels in México are mandatory. No matter how small or large a school can be, .the Symbolic Migration tries to visit all those schools closest to affecting the overwintering sites and habitat of Monarchs either because they are surrounding the buffer Oyamel forest areas, important streams for Monarchs to drink water or to get nectar. Children were delighted to learn from pollinators, recognized practically all of them and were mostly attentive to hear of the very basic aspects of what they do for us to have lots of delicious meals!. Picking up a dead Monarchs in their garden and analyzing its body and possible reason for her to die, was extremely exciting to them!. They were pround to show their cartridge set of extinct animals on earth, such as dinosaurs and others in our region and understood the importance of caring of every animal and plant around us!. Receiving for the first time in their lives the Ambassador Monarchs from their friends from the far away places from where they hear Monarchs come from, was incredibly exciting to them!.
