THE STORY IN THIS VISIT

Our dear all,  we continue attending the following visit at a neighboring village located at exactly this same bottom valley to Sanctuary “Sierra Chincua”.  We are visiting today children whose parents, grandparents and previous generations have lived from forest resources in the area as most of our local families.  Once again, teacher Cecilia, living in the area, asked the Symbolic Migration to please come to present our topic this year “The Benefits of Trees”.  “Can it be that our mountains and Oyamel forests are so old that they can be thousands and thousands of years old? “ –they asked surprised at hearing this fact--;  “So our local fruits, capulines, tejocotes, zapotes, wild blackberries, pecans, pears, peaches, plumbs, apples, membrillos, nísperos, are growing all wild so abundant thanks to the optimal health conditions, nutrients and humidity of the soil thanks to our forests?” --the oldest in the group concluded--.   “Well, we can recognize most trees when we go to the forest, but maybe not all… Fresnos, Tepozanes, Pinos, Cedros, Madroños, Ailes, Encinos, Robles, Oyameles…”, --they helped each other to complete all of our local species series...  “Wooowww!, to think that our forest is like a sponge absorbing huge quantities of water underneath the ground to make our lives possible…”;  “Every time I go with grand-pa around to bring our cattle back home, he points to me the area I will become owner when I grow older;  I will tell him and father about our talk today and tell them we shall plant even more trees, but as Estelita says, using the same wild seeds falling from our same old trees directly…”.  “Grand-pa says that the quality of water we have in our region has got a high content of minerals and else nutrients as no water in other surrounding regions could contain; once I was at the dentist, and he told that to mom too.  So this means we have a very rich soil”.  With this and more reflections children wrote their Spanish letters to their friends designing their Ambassador Monarchs in the North for them, corresponding this way their distance friendship to them and telling them here of a few of the several possible reasons why Monarchs could have chosen this region as their overwintering ancestral spots up to nowadays. Four Moms were happy to be welcomed to accompany their children to attend the presentation today.
