"A Great Mission in the Mountains"
SCHOOL VISIT
Our great and dear friends, your Ambassador Monarchs finally knock doors in one of the more far away and tiny schools in the mountains of “Sierra Chincua” Sanctuary. No matter how many students a school may have, the “Symbolic Migration Project” and the “Monarchs Across Georgia Book Project” both reached every far corner of each of our three Monarch Sanctuaries: “Sierra Chincua”, “El Rosario” and “Cerro Pelón” delivering its message on Conservation. Finally we meet the small group of children attending Elementary School “Benito Juárez”, which is a uni-grade school, where students attending first to sixth grade are all in the same classroom and whose only teacher covers every single grade, and every single subject during each class day, a big challenge indeed for teachers assigned to such schools. What about technology in these small schools somewhat far from more developed spots in our region?. No wi-fi signal is still possible in these small locations far up in the mountains surrounded by dense forests, high hills or deep canyons. Hardly a basic-function smart phone is there in a family and possible to operate at certain scarce points at distanced clearings in the forests where satellital signal happens to connect; a relief at least for most families in case of need of phone communication. Our children living up in these rather far points in our mountains shall not get any encountering with technology unless they reach middle to high school level in the nearest town, which most will do, as parents will do all efforts for it to happen. Meanwhile, our children in these spots for sure develop one of the most extraordinary sense and appreciation of life and ensurance of survival for their own future: Their wonderful every-day connection with Nature. The moment any technology shall be in their hands, they will have acquired much before the feeling for Nature in their intuition and reasoning; they will know every possibility of life shall happen as far as human beings recognize Nature as every source of possibility of life in our existance and this shall make of them special, much well grounded and successful individuals, since technology shall be for them striclty an additional tool to find additional and easier ways for themselves and their sense of development in life. Every single one of your Symbolic Monarchs, every single book donated by “Monarchs Across Georgia”, every single lesson on better recognition and Conservation of their own ecosystem shall contribute a little more to better reinforce such a great connection in them and their families. On behalf of every student, of every teacher and every local family, awaiting every winter for your incredible Symbolic Monarchs arriving to their schools as they contemplate real Monarchs arriving to their forest spots in our region, we all want to express a HUGE THANK YOU, to every student, to every teacher, every school and every town along the migration corridor of the last two generations of Monarch Butterflies up from south-eastern Canada down to south-eastern United States coming to overwinter in our Oyamel tree mountains in Central México, for the continuance of our great mission on the Conservation of Monarchs and their habitat. Our own habitat. Our planet. Our home.
