THE VISIT

Our school system in México resumed activities in August, once our health system presented considerable progress in vaccination coverage. Teachers were the second group in our society to get massively inoculated.
Knowing that most of our small villages did not have the necessary technology tools for distance learning and the complexities this would imply, was a challenge for our education system far beyond what anyone could have imagined.
We were among the last countries in the world not to consider class attendance an essential activity due to the high density of our population and therefore, the high sanitary risk. This was a big controversy in our country.
Now, parents, children, and teachers are really happy to be back in classes. The everyday direct contact between teacher and student is vital for our education system at every level.
“We so appreciate the visit of the Symbolic Migration program at our return to classes. It will help us to reinforce and summarize science lessons in such a practical and effective way! The fact that our students live in a natural reserve where an insect, the monarch butterfly, attracts scientists and visitors from all over the world, shall make them realize how privileged they are on the one side, but how important the responsibility of conservation as heirs of this marvelous natural phenomenon, is on the other .”
…teachers expressed.
Students proudly showed their inherited knowledge of forests by mentioning the names of mushrooms, natural remedies, and the agricultural cycles in our region, all provided by the fabulous ecosystem we have.
“All possible thanks to TREES as the main source of life in our ecosystem!”
..they concluded. Each student expressing the benefits of TREES!
