As the real migration of our miraculous Monarch butterflies reaches our unique Oyamel fir forests in central México, our local students jump for joy, shout loud hurrahs, laugh, and run around while receiving your beautiful Ambassador butterflies. They welcome these Symbolic Migration Ambassadors in which you share the way you, our northern friends, witness the Monarch’s life cycle, care for their breeding habitat, and show, through your wonderful illustrations and messages, the way these fantastic creatures are as important a part of the community you live in as they are for us, your Mexican school friends and their families.

Monarchs at their overwintering Sanctuaries are surrounded by a wonderful variety of creatures. Learning more about these organisms can help us to better understand the incredible equilibrium and resilience of this ecosystem.

Guess what the topic shall be this season? Moths!

Below are a few images from the lesson which we are so excited to share with you!

Here also are photos and a list of your very first Ambassadors delivered to students.

The Cerro Pelón Sanctuary is located in the state of Mexico, one thousand meters lower in elevation than the Sanctuaries of El Rosario and Sierra Chincua.
