Dear Symbolic Migration participants:
We are now visiting one of the schools located among the 5-6 furthest communities around both Sanctuaries “Sierra Chincua” and “El Rosario”.
We continue driving and now reaching the highest point to the hillsides of “Sierra Chincua” Sanctuary where the last and furthest school, Elementary level, closest to this Sanctuary is.
Today, dear friends, we close our visitsto the schools located around the overwintering spots of Monarch butterflies across their Oyamel forests located at around ten thousand feet up here at our mountains.
*37 schools located across these unique, ancestral Oyamel forests, winter home to Monarch butterflies were thrilled at receiving your beautifully illustrated, artistic and informative Ambassadors and your fantastic book donations!
*A handful is only left for a kindergarten waiting for us down in Angangueo town, and last, for our local University in the region before we close the season at our blog.
*Nowadays, in our local communities around Monarchs’ Sanctuaries, wherever 4 or more children are in age to start attending Kindergarten or Elementary level, a school shall be open and a teacher assigned by the state.
*All of our children walk to school as long as they attend up to Elementary level at least, which is considered mandatory.
*Public Education in México from Kindergarten to University level, is totally for free all across our country.
*Any student with a physical or intellectual disability shall be admitted and integrated to a regular classroom as long as he responds to basic behaviours and understanding while he is in elementary level.
*Arts, Music, Dancing, Foreign Languages and Conservation concepts are still to get re-inforced in our Education system for our children.
*Our students’ current generations and their families now know that they themselves shall assure Monarchs’ habitat and their own wellbeing at our homeland, as long as we assure the permanency or these unique Oyamel tree forests. The Symbolic Migration is indeed importantly contributing to it.
*There being no Wi-Fi connection at our schools in local communities surrounding Monarchs’ overwintering sites, and being school libraries turned into “Reading Corners” at classrooms, your book donations result invaluable to enriching our students’ consulting resources.
*Thank you for keeping such an important mission, the Symbolic Migration, alive for the future and assurance of our young generations!
