The Great Migration of Monarchs has once more accomplished their ancestral appointment, reaching their overwintering Oyamel fir forests in Central México. Appearing in considerable numbers since November 3-4, they traditionally arrive as the souls of our dearly departed, who shall never be gone as long as they are remembered.
Little by little, our fantastic migrants shall occupy their three traditional overwintering spots, two of them, Sierra Chincua and El Rosario, at over ten thousand feet in elevation and rather cold weather conditions.
But it shall be in the Cerro Pelón Sanctuary, over 300 feet lower in elevation, where the first Monarch Sanctuary was scientifically discovered in 1975 near the beautiful village of Macheros, where milder climate conditions, abundant water, and vegetation, where your awesome Ambassadors shall continue to be delivered, after our grand opening at the first historical school. Teachers and students in this iconic Sanctuary are now greatly excited to greet real Monarchs, as well as your Ambassador Monarchs!
With shouts of “Bienvenidas Mariposas Monarcas a Cerro Pelón!”, “Bienvenidas Nuestras Mariposas Embajadoras a Cerro Pelón!”, “Hurrah,” a b e a u t I f u l parade in the downtown area welcomed this season. While real Monarchs appeared here and there in the sky, the Symbolic Monarch Migration project was honored on our 30th anniversary. Our topic this season, Native Plants and Pollinators, was also received with excitement.
With pollinators being vital for a healthy ecosystem, there is much to learn about these essential organisms, our native plants, and the process of pollination.
Monarch Butterflies, the Souls of our Beloved ones Departed, the Daughters of the Sun, have accurately arrived on our great festivities of The Day of the Dead!. HURRAH!

Hurraaa!.
