We are now moving from the highly populated San Luis community to the El Rosario Community. Both are within the same El Rosario Ejido, where the El Rosario Sanctuary is located.
Even though we do have a good population of pollinators at our local ecosystem where Monarchs overwinter, such as honey bees, bumble bees, wasps, butterflies, and hummingbirds (fewer ants and beetles), we might be at too high an elevation with relatively limited nectar sources, especially during winter, to claim a major population of these wonderful creatures.
We have, on the other hand, noticed that due to climate change, higher temperatures and less precipitation, the last few seasons have diminished our moth and bat population.
“Most hummingbirds live in the warmest regions of our American continent. Many of them migrate from North America to Central and South America, where they can find plenty of food!”
“Through rhythmic dancing, bees communicate among themselves, telling each other how far they should travel and how to reach a blooming plant or tree.”
“Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Mayas on our American continent treasured honey as a precious element but would also use it for preparing meals or for certain curative purposes later in the Middle Ages.” Our participant reading students love to stand and read to their classmates, who listen in astonishment.

Nos trasladamos ahora de la densamente poblada comunidad de San Luis a la comunidad de El Rosario. Ambos ubicados dentro del Ejido El Rosario, donde se encuentra la Colonia o Santuario El Rosario.
Aún cuando tenemos una buena población de polinizadores en nuestro ecosistema local donde hibernan las Monarcas, tales como las abejas de miel, abejorros, avispas, mariposas, colibríes (cantidades menores de hormigas y escarabajos), estamos a una altura con fuentes de néctar relativamente limitadas como para pretender una mayor población de polinizadores.
Por el otro lado, nos hemos dado cuenta de que debido al cambio climático, temperaturas más altas y menos lluvias durante las últimas temporadas, ha disminuído nuestra población de polillas y murciélagos.
“La mayor parte de colibríes vive en las regiones más cálidas de nuestro continente Americano. ¡Muchos de ellos migran de Norte América a Centro y Sud América, donde pueden encontrar mucha comida¡”
“A través de danzas rítmicas, las abejas se comunican entre sí diciéndose que tan lejos deben viajar y el camino a seguir para encontrar una planta ó árbol floreciendo”.
“Los Egipcios, Griegos, Romanos y los Mayas en nuestro continente Americano atesoraban la miel como un elemento precioso pero también lo usaban para preparar platillos ó para ciertos propósitos curativos más tarde en la Edad Media” Nuestros lectores participantes estuvieron fascinados de leer al frente para sus compañeros, quienes escuchaban con asombro.
