“Bees taste and feel with their antennae. They have no nose, so they also use their antennae, which have specific receptors. They do not have ears but sense noise through fine hairs covering their bodies. They have two compound eyes that can see ultraviolet colors. They also have three simple eyes on top of their head, which allow them to distinguish darkness and light.”

We are closing our visits to schools throughout the El Rosario Sanctuary area within this very week. The last Ambassador Books on pollinators loved by our students because of their rich illustrations and amazing summary of facts, shall be delivered to the last school here in this area. Your Ambassadors continue to amaze our students because some of them illustrate the two different habitats Monarchs live in, where they breed in Canada and the US, and where they overwinter in México!

“I am Mexican. I have lived in the US for a long time, but I want to keep in touch with my family’s culture!”

“Here is the Monarchs’ life cycle stage, four generations is what we see here where I live”.

“We worry about the decrease in monarchs’ habitat everywhere. We are inviting surrounding communities to enhance habitat everywhere. We know Monarchs’ overwintering forests tend to decrease over time. We like to hear that you are also inspiring your new generations to take care of it as a treasure.” These are some quotes from letters that Spanish-speaking students in the US sent us with an exceptional connection to their culture.

“Los sentidos del gusto y del tacto en las abejas estan en sus antenas. No tienen nariz, por lo que también usan sus antenas las cuales tienen receptores especificos. No tienen oídos, pero perciben el sonido através del fino pelaje que cubre su cuerpo. Tienen dos ojos compuestos que pueden ver colores ultra-violeta. También tienen tres ojos simples sobre su cabeza que les permite distinguir la oscuridad de la claridad”

Estamos casi cerrando nuestras visitas alrededor del Santuario El Rosario esta misma semana. Los últimos libros Embajadores sobre polinizadores que encantaron a nuestros estudiantes por sus ricas ilustraciones y resumen de aspectos increíbles, habrán de entregarse a la última escuela en esta área. ¡Sus embajadoras continuarán sorprendiendo a nuestros estudiantes porque muchos de ellos ilustran los dos diferentes hábitas en que viven las Monarcas, tanto donde se reproducen en Canadá y E. U. como donde hibernan!

“¡Soy Mexicano, he vivido en los Estados Unidos por mucho tiempo, pero quiero mantener contacto con la cultura de mi familia!

“¡Aquí está el ciclo de vida de las Monarcas, son cuatro generaciones las que vemos aquí donde vivimos!”

“Nos preocupa el decremento del hábitat de las Monarcas por todos lados. Estamos invitando a todas las comunidades alrededor a incrementar hábitat por todos lados. Sabemos que los bosques de las Monarcas tienden a reducirse con el tiempo. Nos gusta saber que ustedes también inspiran a sus nuevas generaciones a cuidarlo como un tesoro”

Estos son algunos de los comentarios de cartas que escribieron estudiantes de habla Hispana viviendo en los Estados Unidos estableciendo una excepcional conexión con su cultura.
